OK, Mike K, I went through the current document and make some proofing fixes. I also changed a bit of the spacing and did change some labels from Amendments to Bills (and Executive Order on one of the military solutions.) If I had more time to spare, I would continue with the pattern that you started and label each possible solution as a Bill, Amendment, Executive Order, Policy change, etc. I think that labelling instead of just suggesting "do X" will be easier to digest, although I see a lot of work needing to be done before we are going to be anywhere on the same age regarding what solutions we want to ask for. Still, we're getting ahead of ourselves by talking about solutions anyway, since we need to get the final list of grievances figured out first. I'm not going to make any more changes to this. This is what I'll bring to the convention, and we can make further edits physically if need be. Attachments:

Upon looking closer, the solution about banning single-mark ballots from Congressional elections should be listed as a possible solution to this grievance:
* ID 23 / G-3 Grievance: It is hard to vote incumbents out of office.
(It would also reduce the excessive influence of money in elections, but that connection is not as obvious.)
Someone suggested a 90% threshold for approving a grievance. Instead, keeping in mind that I am a voting-method expert, I strongly recommend giving a thumbs-up or thumbs-down vote for each grievance (which can be done using the keypad system by counting how many delegates in each state approve each grievance), and then sorting the results by the total approval counts. At a later point, voting can choose the cutoff point between included grievances and non-included grievances.
If a 90% threshold were used, many delegates would only approve their one or two favorite grievances -- because this strategy defends their favorite against the "competing" grievances -- and then it could easily happen that none of the grievances gets approved.
I'll echo what someone else said about this thread having the wisest recommendations, especially compared to the forums that were hosted in months past (and then ignored when the organizer wrote up the "official" proposal).
Good luck in Philadelphia!

All For what it is worth, Michael Pollok seemed to like the idea of writing down possible Amendments. Mike K

ID 23 / G-3 Grievance: It is hard to vote incumbents out of office. This idea would fit here. I'd like to add something about Gerrymandering. Because of gerrymandering borders the Districts are cherry picked to be safe for incumbents. Based on voting patterns, which are data mined, conservative areas are carved out and liberal areas are carved out. The people voted in don't have to work with the middle, they are insulated. Our resulting Government is more and more polarized. Get rid of gerrymandering and fix a bunch of problems.

Gerrymandering is in ID 22 / G-2. Proposed Amendment is to have independent commission draw district boundaries after each census.

Hey Mike Kelley - Can you possibly post that file as a .doc instead of a .docx because I don't have windows 2010 on my laptop...I get 276 pages of gobbledy gook from your docx. Thanks KJ

To outlaw lobbying is totally unrealistic. In essence you are then saying that a citizen can not contact a legislator to try and influence legislation. Shutting the revolving door is possible without outlawing lobbying. Having a law where congress people, staff, etc. can not work as a lobbyist for 5 years and that all lobbyist that receive any monetary compensation for lobbying have to register and have full financial disclosure is much more reasonable.

Everyone, We finished!! We have a list of grievances mixed with solutions. A Style Committee including KJ, Kristen and Brandon quickly cut the grievance portion out of the main document and put it into the preamble for use at Independence Mall. We then marched from the Convention Center to the Independence Mall. There we read the preamble. It was hot but exhilarating. Thanks to all the wonderful, energetic delegates. We did it! Woohoo!

Thanks, Mike, Your description of the ending raised my spirits some! I marched with the group too briskly I'm afraid, and by the time I got to Independence Hall area, I started getting overheated, shaky, and weak...just not good! Luckily Matt Forbes, Kelly Allen and Steve Cickay were nearby and helped me get into a cab and head back to the hotel to cool down...BUT I missed the ending of what we worked so hard for and I was VERY depressed. I don't know if any of you have a copy of the verbal version of the document, so I attached it to this message for anyone that would like a copy. If Mike has a copy of their final version that includes the grievances and solutions, maybe he can post that also? Here's to better things in the future. Happy Independence Day to all! Congratulations! I'm impressed that the grievances are well-chosen and nicely worded -- and so much better than the previous officially proposed version. Thank you all for your great work! I look forward to reading the list of proposed solutions.
Happy Fourth of July! You've made this one special!

meh. I think the intro the CCC put together last November is more compelling. Honestly I can't see this document gaining any sort of traction whatsoever.
