Hi there. I'm Cat Wilson, and I represented NM District 1 in Philadelphia. I am a housewife who volunteers in animal rescue and who judges speech and debate in New Mexico high schools. My husband, Andy, and I have no children but three cats, two of whom were only supposed to be temporary fosters. For the record, I'm no longer allowed to take on temporary fosters. Despite my name, I am a dog person as well -- sadly, Andy is painfully allergic to dogs, so we can't have any.
I love music (I'm an alto and play a smattering of instruments, mostly wind), reading, writing, and swimming. I've been active on the Internet since 1990. I enjoy baking and cooking.
I was diagnosed by two neuropsychologists as being on the autism spectrum. I tell this not to excuse any bad behavior, but to explain some of my actions. I try to stick to coping strategies to avoid the worst pitfalls, and sometimes I overcompensate.
In terms of politics, I do not fit neatly into either of the two major parties. For the Declaration I was hoping CC 2.0 would limit the scope of the document to what my constituents and I considered the underlying causes, namely corruption and voter disenfranchisement. I would have rather seen many of the things eventually voted on saved for CC 2.1 or later, mostly because I believe that until the root problems are addressed, no meaningful changes can be made. Even though things didn't go my way for the most part, I'm still committed to seeing the thing through.
