The complexities of the world in the 21st C and the complicated structure of our election process in America render the limitation of the terms of the U.S Presidency to 4 year inadequate. The attention of our president is greatly diminished by the need to ponder running for re-election while still tending to the Nation's business in the first term.
We need to change our election process (public funding would be good) and change the length of term of office from 4 to 8 years. It is still adequate to keep the 2 term limit so that any given president may serve for a total of 16 years.
Both houses of Congress should be 4 year appointments and also restricted to 2 terms.

I'm not sure I can support this suggestion. The idea of 16 years of GWB makes me want to run screaming into the abyss!

Unless there is a viable national recall process in place, I don't want to risk being stuck with someone terrible for 8 years at a time.
I believe in the opposite approach. We should have term limits on Congressmen so that they can't make a "career" out of being in office. Ditto on the Supreme Court. Its quite morbid that we have to wait for one of those Justices to retire or die before they get replaced.

I believe the 4 year term for president is adequate. I believe the two term limit should be abolished.
The voters' will ought not be stymied in that way. Please recall that the 2-term limit was not enshrined in the Constitution until the mid-20th century.
Until then, Presidents had followed the custom established by George Washington, but that's all it was, a custom.
The Constitutional Amendment limiting a president to two terms was the work of a vindictive conservative oligarchy who viewed FDR as a traitor to his class (which he was, thank heavens) and wanted to make sure there were no future FDRs.
If we ever have another FDR, I want the option to keep him longer than 8 years.
We HAVE term limits. They're called "elections".
