Kudos to whoever got the forum up and running again. Just wanted to find out what the new rules are since there is now a moderator and in the terms of service it says that our posts or even our access to the forum can be taken away at the sole discretion of the moderator. Doesn't sound very democratic to me, but anyway, I had a few posts in the past "rejected by the moderator" so could someone tell what is acceptable and what is not acceptable? Given the new format you can respond in a way that is acceptable to every big corporation's useless customer service menus: please press 1 if there is no censorship, press 2 if censorship will be based on objective criteria or press 3 if arbitrary standards for content will be implemented. Any info would be appreciated.

All forum programs have that in their TOS, and it is true that the Admins (Matt and myself) COULD remove a post, ban a member, or take the whole forum down at will. BUT - both Matt and I have given our word that this forum is NOT going to disappear like the last one did. We are both delegates, and we know how important this means of communication among delegates is - for all of us and for the success of our Congress. So we are determined to make sure that the lines of communication remain open. Also, neither MP (Pollok) nor any of the members of the Board or Steering Committee have any rights to edit, censor, remove, or otherwise manage THIS forum. Here is a link to my philosophy of forum management, developed over years of acting as both a moderator and administrator of other forums: 99declaration.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=25The posts you say were rejected were, I assume, on the old forum that was connected to the website, yes? All of us had posts rejected in the day or so before the forum was removed completely. That was most likely done by MP himself, as I understand he was the only one with access and authority to do it. So your issue and anger re the old forum is valid, but should be directed at the person responsible for removing that forum. Matt and I had nothing to do with that. At the time we were just delegate candidates and nothing more. But when that forum disappeared, Matt knew we needed a replacement, so he started this one. I offered to help him out because I have experience managing forums. And because both of us went through the same thing you did in regard to the old forum, we are both committed to making sure that this forum remains available for as long as necessary. Welcome to the forum, Tony

Without even reading David's link, I can pretty much agree with the general philosophy of that last few words.
Don't be a dick.
We all know we're going to disagree and that, as such, we're going to find ourselves in potentially heated debates. That is perfectly fine. Just don't get carried away and start tossing insults or threaten lawsuits. *
I have no intention of deleting posts or banning members. I believe I've only banned one person from some Facebook groups and that's because, well, he was being a dick.

Wait, you mean I could have condensed that long treatise on my forum management philosophy to simply, "Don't be a dick and I won't get in your way"

Wait, are we comparing size?
(And this is why I shouldn't post after certain hours)
