I want to go, but I need to know that people are going to show up to this.
I can get a flight from where I live to Philly for $300, plus hotel fees (assuming that any room sharing plans fall through) of a few hundred more $, and then food and misc. expenses... you get the idea.

I'll be going. I'm driving up from SW Virginia, but would also be happy to carpool with anyone, in my vehicle or theirs. My budget is stretched thin for it, but I will be attending, even if I have to sleep in an Occupy tent.

As I posted to Julio's announcement about the voting results:
I want to attend - in fact, I've been looking forward to it, even though it's going to be a financial hardship for us (hubby was coming too). If we have any presence in Philly, I will be there for it.
However, I remember that there was mention of an online alternative for those who could not be there in person (either due to financial hardship or logistical issues). It occurred to me that this might be a far better solution for this entire project, for several reasons:
1 - the delegates who might have backed out due to being unable to afford the trip, or time off from work (the 2nd & 3rd are regular work days for most people), or other logistics, would be able to participate online.
2 - the higher the number of delegates we have participating, voting and eventually ratifying and signing (electronically at least) the Declaration, the more weight it will carry going forward.
3 - the final list of grievances may well be more successful if it is determined after we have the input of several hundred delegates as opposed to just the 20-100 that may participate on the forum or come to Philly.
My personal desire to be there with all of you is secondary to my desire to make this endeavor successful - so if the best way to make it successful is to do it online in order to get a larger number of delegates participating, then I will support that 100%.

So, if I recall, the plan to have the video-conferencing and the like was scrapped due to an inability for the organization to afford the wireless connection at the conference center.
For the technically-inclined out there... how efficient and cost effective would it be to purchase some "pay as you go" wireless hotspots (or MiFi's, if you prefer)? We used one down here in Roanoke for a few months, but we didn't have the best coverage to make good use of it. I'd imagine Philadelphia would have decent coverage from most of the wireless services. So, given the amount of data we would be transmitting, is it a feasible solution to providing virtual conference access to those unable to physically attend?

I'll be spending a few days in Philly. If it's just a handful of us, I suggest beers, cheese steaks, and long intellectual conversations.
...and maybe a museum or three.

I will definitely be there for I feel an intense and deep obligation to the 18 people I paid handsomely to vote for me.
But please come.
It is an historic opportunity for change. And if the worst case happens and it leads to nothing, you will at least have enjoyed a great American city and by the wayside, will have some great conversations with folks who have been attracted to this fine cause just like you have been.
So I expect there will be great conversations even around or in spite of the formal events hopefully being expertly planned as I type.
See you in July! I'll be wearing the American Eagle costume. The one with tears coming down from his sad insightful eyes.

I'm coming with bells on. Okay, I don't have bells but I'm coming all the way from Arizona's west coast. I can see California and Nevada from my house which is a few blocks from the Colorado River and therefore the west coast of AZ. I'm from AZ District 2. My male counterpart is driving in and I'm flying in. More people are showing up than you think and it's all good. I can't wait for the conversations. I'm fired up.

OK, so at worst we'll have a small classroom worth of people in attendance. I always wanted to see Philly anyway. Count me in.

I live in NJ only 15 min. from center city Phila., so of course I will be going. I know the city is historic and there is lots to see and do, but we will be there with work to do,Like saving our country. I have made arrangements to have 1 or 2 delegates as guests in my home, and I wich I could arrange for more. Good luck and happy trails to all of us. See you all there.

Yep, I am in, see you all there. We need delegates with laptops to help out -- not required of delegates, just nice to have.
